Global Chat Meeeting:
Students at the University of Osijek in Croatia proposed to call for a global week of action related to the struggle against the increasing commercialisation of education and for free emancipatory education in May 2014.
During past chat meetings participants worked out and agreed on a common call to action, suggestions for common symbols as well as slogans to support communication efforts on the global level and visually connect the various activities.
Furthermore this timeframe was agreed: May 1st – 8th 2014! It was chosen to link the struggle within the education system with the workers’ struggle on the global level. Therefore the week of action kicks off on May Day.
It was also agreed to use this international joint statement as a common content basis in addition to the call to action.
Focus of the chat meeting: Clarifying questions in connection with the week of action | new edition of Reclaim Education (newsletter) | next steps (e.g. groups supporting week of action/ announcing activities).
All identifying with the struggle are invited to participate in the global chat meeting on April 13, 2014 (Sunday) at 4pm UTC!
It is very easy to participate. No microphone or seperate software is needed. The chatroom can simply be opened in your web browser. Scroll down for details.
